WOW!!  What a difference a month makes! Talk about a Harvest. Let’s start out with the beginning of the month as I now sit with the deadline of this having to be done in 2 days!!  Income from March was GREAT. Thank You Angels.  However, at this time I wish to comment on people who waste other people’s time. Rarely does this happen to me but this month I had two people who booked office appointments at my home as ‘no shows’. Thank You for wasting my time and know I always send that thought back to you ten times over. How hard is it to make a call cancelling the time you scheduled? People who are no shows NEVER get booked with me again. Sorry I find that a VERY ignorant thing to do. I set up the room, light candles, do a meditation asking for the best read for you and arrange my time around you. Then you do not show.?? WOW!! I have never, in my life booked an appointment and not cancelled or changed it if I could not make it. I NEVER waste another soul’s time. So thank you to the two people who ignorantly wasted my time. May you have that back ten times over as I said above.

Now back to my love it month J the rest of my home booked reads arrived and were wonderful. At the café I was so busy it was crazy. For those of you who do not read my monthly Newsletter all the time please read last months for the update on my work areas.

I now know my summer schedule and it is as follows. Leaving the café July 1st 2017 to do K-Days, BVJ and am awaiting confirmation on the third festival I hope to do. Going back to the café on September 1st 2017. During this time I will NOT be booking home office reads. If you need or want a read before July please book it now.

March 12th 2017: Yes, it was a Sunday and the commissioner of oath arrived at my door to sign my mortgage papers. March 28th 2017: TODAY!! The mortgage was paid out, my credit cards paid out and the money that was over was directly transferred to my bank account as funnily enough Purolator was on strike in Ontario where the money was coming from!! I re-paid the money I borrowed see under ‘Coincidences' below for this VERY interesting story.

Next!! Five years ago I bought a new washer and dryer. Three years ago I sold the acreage with the washer and dryer. At the time of purchase I was told if I took an extended warranty at the cost of $350, if I did not use it I would be refunded in the way of furniture form the store I bought it from. Every year I transferred this ‘reminder’ to my next appointment book. This year I noted that February 14th the warranty was up. I assumed that it had not been used. I was right. With the refunded money I bought a gorgeous coffee table and green vase. The coffee table was $699 lowered to $288 as it was the floor model. Thank you Angels.

Next, as I promised myself once the mortgage went through, I had my hair cut and then I used henna to dye it.  NEXT!!! I bought the Dyson pet cordless vacuum. WOW!! What a piece of machinery. No other vacuum that I have ever owned has stood up to this machine. Not even an Electrolux. What made me buy it? At the café the owner gave me a cordless vacuum as she said she never used it. I got it home and charged it up but it would not hold a charge for more than 2 minutes. However, in those two minutes I realised how easy and pleasant it is to vacuum with a cordless. I went on line and read about the pet cordless Dyson reviews. Not one bad review was to be read. Therefore I bought it.  Holy crap as I said it is an AMAZING machine picking up animal hair like I have never seen before. The power in this motor is amazing. Easy to drop open the bag and light as a feather to carry.

However, as I have always noticed, that whenever I have money to save one of my pets needs help. This month was no exception. Solomon started breathing really fast. Long story short, the vet bill was $514.21 and this included blood work, x-rays and medication. With a very sad outcome. He has congested heart failure with liquid in the lungs. His thyroid has a tumor on it and we are hoping to save him. His heart beats so fast I cannot count that quickly. The x-rays show a very old heart probably caused by the thyroid tumor says my vet. Yesterday he started on a diuretic and today we added the thyroid meds. In the next 2 days we will be adding the heart medication plus a blood pressure medication.  If it works he will live but cannot have any type of stress.  Funnily enough if you read my last two Newsletters the choices and actions that life handed me created me letting go of all travel. Thus he will have no stress at all as he always has had to travel with me due to his diabetes and need of two shots a day. Thank You Angels for creating a stress free life for us. He is 14 years of age and although this is young compared to Princess who passed at 19 and ½ he still has had a GREAT life. It is with a heavy heart that I live through this but I am hoping his next week x-rays show a better heart. His breathing has already slowed back down, not to normal but enough for him to be able to deep breathe again. I will keep you posted in May’s Newsletter as to his update.

NEXT!! I may, and I say may, be having my Nugabest bed fixed. I finally reached a person in Vancouver who e-mailed Korea [even though I had done that with no reply] and they in Korea got in touch with a fellow in Alberta who seems to be able to order these parts and fix my bed. Again I will have an update on this next month but am keeping my fingers crossed.

A wonderful meal was once again had with a reader during a supper break at Padamani’s. I cannot rave enough about how good the vegan food is there. Thank You Angels for giving me some relaxing time.

My mortgage broker decided to reward certain clients with gift certificates for a meal out. I was one of the clients and am awaiting my gift certificate this week. I will take my buddy with me who I wrote about below in Coincidences. Thank You Angels for more harvest.

LASTLY!!! I signed back up for yoga. Even though I can only go 3 times a week now as most of the yin classes are at night and I am at the café at night I have found day times where two yin classes are and a Thursday night of another on the floor stretching class in yoga style. I took an unlimited 6 month contract. It felt GREAT to be stretching my body again in a heated room.

That was my busy month with all 31 days filled with reads, housework, shopping, cooking, cats, meditations, yoga, and so much more.

Positive thoughts to everybody and see you in May. Use the Spring time to envision your life and growth starts of what you wish to have happen. Life happens every second of the day but it’s your thoughts and actions that create it. Use the time wisely, as time can never be turned back.

My Comments on the News: Stopping this paragraph as life seems to be so busy I have to shorten up my Newsletter.

CAT COSTS: This month Pet Smart handed out 20% discount coupons on tinned food and litter combined. YES!!  Therefore I shopped there this month.  However I will have to buy more tinned in the next 10 days. Tinned food was $10.44. Kitty litter was $61.28. I purchased a large bottle of Purica SA for their bones so that arthritis is kept at bay for the amount of $56.69. I also re-purchased the blood sugar herbs for Solomon plus a bottle of probiotics for all of them. Cost $70.29.  Venus likes her tuna laxatone so I bought a tube of that at $18.30.  There was a sale on the strips that check Solomon’s blood so I bought a 100 at $55.00. As I mentioned above in ‘Chat’ Solomon needed a vet badly. I finally found the vet he had when he was a baby. Jennifer Stillfox. Can you believe she now works nearby where I live? Off we went and the total cost that day was $514.19. This covered the check-up, blood work, x-rays and two medications to start. The following day we added another medication for blood pressure this one at $31.71. Total cost for all 3 cats was $817.90. It never fails that once I catch up and am able to save life takes away the savings. LOL.  I have always said that if bills are paid hey?? All is good. J

If you are thinking of getting a pet please know that from the cute stage, they grow with personality to adult stage. Animals feel with unconditional love from their souls. They get attached and used to their homes. If you cannot give up 12-18 years and maybe longer, do NOT get a pet. It is not a companion till you find a mate, have a child, decide to move to an apartment that will not allow pets, it is a companion for life. They also need dental care, checkups and GOOD food. Not this cheap, no nutrient food that I see so many people buy. Your pets will suffer later just as you would if all you ate was junk.

Look at rescue places for loving animals. These pets will not only be grateful, it's almost like they know you saved them and love and adore you for it. Think before you add to your life. Can you give this type of commitment? If the answer is yes then enjoy looking for your new companion. Think older if you can, for some reason older pets are harder to re-home and they are much sadder as they wait not knowing what it was they did to be removed from the homes they knew.

My Coincidence this Month:  I had saved this coincidence till it was all done. Last year I was going to teach a Kombucha Tea Leaf course. Only one person signed up, but two of my friends were supposed to come as well. Both friends unfortunately had other things to do and no one else signed up. I cancelled the class seeing that the Universe had showed me many times now that teaching is over.

Then  I had a house party to do that was too big for me to cover by myself so I called my friend who I hire to work with me under these circumstances. She had been one of the two friends who could not make my class. While out doing this party she asked me if she could come and learn this by herself. I said ‘heck I can show you how to make Kombucha Tea in five minutes’ however, let’s do a trade. You do a reading for me and I’ll teach you the tea. Done she said. During the reading my mortgage came up. She had her eyes closed and I asked ‘will I be able to make all the payments that the bank wants, to be able to have the numbers crunched’? She said ‘still with eyes closed’ yes, and if you cannot spirit has told me to lend you the money’.  To say I was stunned is the least of my emotions. Time went on and she lent me exactly what I needed. Yesterday I paid it back. If the Kombucha Tea Leaf course had gone ahead and she had been there I know that no trade would have occurred and I would never have thought of asking her for a loan. THANK YOU UNIVERSE.

To a man whose mind is free there is something even more intolerable in the sufferings of animals than in the sufferings of man. For with the latter it is at least admitted that suffering is evil and that the man who causes it is a criminal. But thousands of animals are uselessly butchered every day without a shadow of remorse. If any man were to refer to it, he would be thought ridiculous. And that is the unpardonable crime.- Romain Rolland, Nobe

Do you recommend a vegetarian or a vegan diet?

Vegetarian diets, which contain no meat (beef, pork, poultry, or fish and shellfish), are naturally low in saturated fat, high in fiber, and full of vitamins, minerals, and cancer-fighting compounds. A multitude of scientific studies have shown that vegetarian diets have remarkable health benefits and can help prevent certain diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. We encourage vegetarian diets as a way of improving general health and preventing diet-related illnesses.

Vegan diets, which contain no animal products (meat, dairy, eggs, or other animal products), are even healthier than vegetarian diets. Vegan diets contain no cholesterol and even less fat, saturated fat, and calories than vegetarian diets because they exclude dairy and eggs. Scientific research shows that health benefits increase as the amount of food from animal sources in the diet decreases, making vegan diets the healthiest overall.

I want to try a vegan diet. How should I start?

If a plant-based diet is new to you, you’ll be pleased to discover a wonderful additional benefit to vegan nutrition: It’s a fun way to explore delicious new foods. Start by checking out our Vegetarian Starter Kit, which explains the New Four Food Groups and offers useful tips, the “whys” and “hows” of a healthier diet, and easy-to-make recipes. To order a Vegetarian Starter Kit, please visit the Physicians Committee's literature store. Want more recipes? Go to www.NutritionMD.org. Is it healthy for children to be on a vegan diet?

A well-balanced vegan diet is safe and healthy for any stage of life, including infancy, childhood, adolescence, and during pregnancy. Plant-based diets can easily provide all essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that growing children and mothers-to-be need. Simply have a variety of whole grains, beans, vegetables, and fruits, and be sure to include a daily source of vitamin B12, such as any common multiple vitamin. Plant-based diets have many important health advantages: Vegans enjoy a reduced risk of heart disease, diabetes, and some types of cancer. Since eating habits are established in early childhood, choosing a vegan diet can give your child the opportunity to enjoy a variety of nutritious foods—and to carry those healthy eating habits into adulthood. How do I get protein on a vegan diet? Do I need to combine proteins?

Protein is an important nutrient required for the building, maintenance, and repair of tissues in the body. It was once thought that various plant foods had to be eaten together to get their full protein value; this practice was known as “protein combining” or “protein complementing.” We now know that intentional combining is not necessary. As long as the diet contains a variety of grains, legumes, and vegetables, protein needs are easily met. Especially protein-rich vegan foods include soy-based products like tofu, tempeh (a fermented soybean product), seitan (a meat substitute made from a wheat protein called gluten), black beans, lentils, chickpeas, grains such as quinoa and bulgur, and whole-wheat bread. How do I get enough calcium on a vegan diet? What about osteoporosis?

By eating calcium-rich vegan foods, including leafy green vegetables such as broccoli and kale, white beans, fortified soymilks and juices, and a variety of fruits and vegetables, you can obtain all the calcium your body needs. But keeping your bones strong and avoiding osteoporosis depends on more than calcium intake—you also need to keep calcium in your bones. Exercise and vitamin D help keep the calcium in your bones, while animal protein, excess salt and caffeine, and tobacco can cause calcium loss. Learn how to prevent and reverse osteoporosis. What’s wrong with drinking milk? Is organic milk better? Is soymilk a safer alternative? What about other dairy products?

Milk contains animal fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol, and diets high in these substances increase the risk of several chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease. Other dairy products, such as cheese, yogurt, butter, and ice cream, also contribute significant amounts of cholesterol and fat to the diet. Even low-fat and fat-free milk and dairy products carry health risks because of cholesterol. In addition, natural and artificial hormones are present in all types of milk and dairy products, regardless of fat. Organic milk may not contain the pesticides and antibiotics that nonorganic milk contains, but it is still high in fat and cholesterol. Organic cow’s milk, which does not contain artificial hormones, does contain naturally occurring hormones. The combination of nutrients found in both organic and nonorganic cow’s milk increases our own production of some types of hormones. These hormones have been shown to increase the risk of some forms of cancer. Here are eight great health reasons to eliminate milk, cheese, and other dairy products from your diet. Soymilk and other nondairy beverages, such as rice and nut milks, are healthy alternatives to cow’s milk. These beverages come in different flavors, and many of them are fortified with calcium and vitamin D.

Is it safe to eat soybeans and other soy foods?

Recently, questions have been raised about the possible health risks of soy consumption, but the overwhelming majority of studies on soy have shown positive health effects with no adverse effects. Eating soy in moderation is appropriate for a healthy diet. There have been concerns about processed soy products, such as “mock meats,” but moderate intakes of these foods are not known to cause health problems. Some soy products are high in sodium and contain a higher-than-healthy level of fat, so be sure to check the labels and choose the healthier versions. Nonetheless, these foods are much healthier than the animal-derived foods they are intended to replace. If you do choose to avoid soy, you will find it can be easily replaced with other foods. Lentils, beans, and other legumes are a hearty and delicious source of plant-based protein and other nutrients. They are also the richest source of dietary fiber. Learn more about soy.

What are the safest types of fish to eat? Aren’t fish the best source of omega-3 fatty acids?

The Physicians Committee does not recommend eating any fish or shellfish because they can contain unsafe levels of contaminants and are often high in mercury and other environmental toxins that have no place in a healthy diet. Fish also contain no fiber and are high in animal protein, and often, in saturated fat and cholesterol.

Read our report on fish and shellfish safety.

The most nutritious sources of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are plant-based foods, including green leafy vegetables, legumes, wheat germ, soybeans, and ground flaxseeds. We do not recommend fish or fish oil as a healthy source of essential fatty acids. By getting omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and protein from plant-based foods, you can avoid the health risks associated with fish consumption.

What is the best way to get vitamin B12?

Individuals following a vegan diet can readily meet their vitamin B12 with a common daily multiple vitamin or fortified foods, such as vitamin B12-fortified breakfast cereals, soymilk, meat analogues, and nutritional yeast.

What’s the best diet for weight loss?

Both short-term and long-term, the most effective weight loss comes from avoiding animal products and keeping fats, vegetable oils, and highly processed foods to a minimum. In addition, it helps to keep the natural fiber in the foods you eat. This means eating whole-grain breads instead of white bread, brown rice instead of white rice, and plenty of fruits, vegetables, and legumes (beans, peas, and lentils). And don’t forget the importance of physical activity for achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.

Are carbohydrates bad for you? Is it OK to eat carbohydrates if I am trying to lose weight?

Carbohydrate-rich foods help with permanent weight control because they contain less than half the calories of fat, which means that replacing fatty foods with complex carbohydrates automatically cuts calories.

It’s important to remember to eat healthful carbohydrates, such as whole grains, pasta, brown rice, and sweet potatoes. Processed carbohydrates, such as white bread and white rice, are not as healthful because they have lost much of their fiber and other nutrients. Read our report about health risks associated with high-fat, high-protein, carbohydrate-restricted diets.

Should I be on a gluten-free diet?

For most Americans gluten is not an issue, but it can be a serious problem for the 1 percent of the population with celiac disease (gluten intolerance). Sometimes individuals may not have celiac disease but can have a sensitivity to gluten. Gluten sensitivities affect roughly 6 percent of Americans and can be managed by a gluten-free diet. However, if you suspect you are sensitive to gluten, see your doctor before going on a gluten-free diet. Varying the grains in your diet—not relying on just gluten-containing grains like wheat, barley, and rye—is a viable solution.

The most important action is to get a proper diagnosis from your doctor. Some of the most common symptoms are not exclusive to celiac disease or gluten sensitivity. Here are a few examples of symptoms to keep in mind: diarrhea, unexpected weight loss, vomiting, anemia, abdominal pain and distention, fatigue, joint pain, foggy mind, and tingling of the extremities. If any of these symptoms persist, it’s best to seek medical attention.

Is the Atkins diet healthy/safe? What about other low-carb diets?

The Atkins diet and other low-carb fad diets, which are high in fat and protein and severely restrict carbohydrates, are not healthy approaches to losing weight. High-fat, high-protein diets are associated with many health risks, ranging from mild (constipation, headache, and bad breath) to significant (impaired kidney function, osteoporosis, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer).

The American Heart Association, the American Dietetic Association, and the American Kidney Fund have all published statements warning about the various dangers associated with low-carbohydrate, high-protein diets.

Is it true that some foods are addictive?

Studies suggest that cheese, chocolate, sugar, and meat all spark the release of opiate-like substances that trigger the brain’s pleasure center and seduce us into eating them again and again. These foods stimulate the same opiate receptors in your brain as heroin or morphine, but to a much lesser degree. In research studies, drugs used to block the effects of heroin and morphine can also reduce or end the appeal of these four foods. Luckily, there are many healthy dietary and lifestyle changes you can make to break food addictions.

Someone in my family was diagnosed with cancer: What dietary recommendations would you offer him or her?

First of all, be sure to get appropriate medical care and to use a healthy diet in addition to, not instead of, medical care. That said, scientific studies have shown that a low-fat, vegetarian or vegan diet can help in cancer prevention and survival. The Physicians Committee recommends replacing meat, dairy products, and other animal products with healthful, low-fat meals rich in whole grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables. These foods are rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals, and cancer-fighting compounds. And they do not contain the high amounts of fat and cholesterol found in meat and other animal products. During medical treatment for cancer, your family member should consult his or her medical care team for any specific dietary recommendations related to the type of cancer or treatment.

Is it possible to lower blood pressure with diet? If so, how?

Changing the way you eat can often lower your blood pressure and reduce or eliminate the need for medication. You can also lower your blood pressure by losing weight, limiting alcohol, avoiding tobacco, and becoming physically active. People who follow vegetarian and vegan diets typically have lower blood pressure.

If you have high blood pressure, you should consult your physician.

Are there natural approaches to menopause?

Women can make many dietary and lifestyle changes to ease the pain and discomfort of menopause without the side effects of estrogen. For example, switching to a vegan diet is better for your heart and bones than estrogen prescriptions. Learn more about a natural approach to menopause.

E-Mail: R.S

Hello I did have my cards read by you once and I was very pleased
My most important question is my health I have multiple lesions through
out my brain no diagnosis it has been 9 years they can only come up with
possible MS
Question is what could it be?
Sincerely R.

Dear R,

Before I comment please note I am NOT a doctor of any kind and am not offering medical advice of any sort.

Having your birthday would have been nice as I always like to see if perhaps a past life connection brings over issues in the health area. You did not add this to your e-mail. Therefore my answer will be short.

Knowing you have multiple lesions throughout and no exact diagnosis seems to be able to be made have you thought of trying to change your food? A raw lifestyle of two years has created so many health changes in myself and many others that I rant and rave about this all the time. I used to teach raw food classes as many will tell you, and people from 18 to 65 were students. ALL of the students who chose to experiment with themselves and their families were totally knocked out of their seats with the changes of weight, health and so much more.  I do recommend you try this as the joy of creating ‘no worry’ about health issues is glorious. Plus the energy you have when health is fabulous is amazing. I hope this helps you. I say this in hope that it will either lessen the lesions or totally get rid of them.
